One of the joys of becoming a homeowner is definitely having a backyard. Ours isn't much right now, but we are making some big changes! Since buying this house my dream has been to have a garden. The visual I have of Roman a little older helping me water the plants and then is able to pick some grapes to pop into his mouth is just more the reason to go for it. The only fruit our property came with was a grapevine that we are currently trying to revitalize. We have been waiting for spring to come around for planting some yummy fresh herbs and HOT peppers that we use often in our meals. We planted when we had time to, so all the plants are at different stages right now. I must admit that Sal is the one with the green thumb and I was completely clueless until now. I was the kid in elementary school who brought home a cup of dirt after trying to grow something for two weeks. I really do enjoy doing it. Just another excuse to be outside on a bright sunny day while Roman gets to be our curious little helper. So far we have planted Italian peppers, lavender, parsley, basil, rosemary, and cilantro. Roman's sunflower seeds that he got for Easter have already sprouted. I still want to plant some aesthetically pleasing flowers (before it's to late), we just haven't committed to which ones yet. It will be so rewarding when I get to go to my backyard and pick the peppers and herbs I need to prepare a dish. I am excited for our first garden; to see the beauty, to smell all the scents, and the best part to taste!
