PIRATES & A PARROT

DEAR ROMAN
You are unbelievably to cool for school.
You now know how to roll your eyes at us with disdain (yay for us) and make us feel ever so dumb.
You are still the picky eater with an enormous appetite.
Your energy outlasts both your papa and I as well as the grandparents.
The bond you have with your uncle Tony is the sweetest thing, especially since you don't get see him often. Plus, you are quite the nose picker (proof with pic above).
You are quite the fighter, and very stubborn. I wonder who you get that from?
Even with the toddler tantrums in full gear; I couldn't ask for a more fun and cuddly little monster.
Most exciting... my baby can talk! You are officially a little communicating human being. I almost can't take it. Hearing your little voice attempt so many new words makes my heart happy.
I couldn't love you more.

THIS TIME LAST YEAR...
I can't believe that this was already a year ago. Just wanted to share since I wasn't blogging yet. But it's that time of year again. I love costumes and candy, so Halloween is definitely one of my favorites. Now with Roman in our lives it has been extra fun thinking of Halloween costumes for the three of us. Last year was a lot of fun and Papa bear was a trooper in his lion costume for sure. This year we did good, but you are just going to have to wait and see. For now you can enjoy us as the little lion familia.

COLOR THE SKY & ROMAN'S FIRST RIDE
Ever year a smaller town near our small town holds a festival known as Color the Sky. It's a hot air balloon festival and a portion of the proceeds go towards a children's hospital. I was really excited about the hot air balloons, and I was even more excited to check off hot air balloon ride off my bucket list. Well me being a newbie, I was unaware that the hot air balloon portion was only on really early in the morning. So the sky was not colored for us, but we did have fun with the little carnival that was still left over. Roman and I went with my parents and it was some good quality time. Roman even got to go on his very first ride teacups! Sadly for me, he did not want to go on them with me. He was all about his grandpa that day. It was just the cutest thing ever. Then I finally got to try the famous Cupcake Lady cupcakes that everyone around here has been raving about and it was de-lish! Roman liked em too!

MUST BLURT: I'M ENGAGED!
Sorry I just couldn't contain myself any longer. I was planning on sneaking this information very casually into our vacation pictures (coming soon, promise!), you know like it's no big deal, but to hell with that. I'm ENGAGED! YES me with a fiance soon to be husband. Wow, that sentence was a wake up call that I am not 16 years old any more. But that's okay, the proposal was perfect. How could I ever think to say no, when he really nailed it. It was right up my alley and oh so beautiful.
First let me just start out by saying I was NEVER EVER one of those little girls dreaming of her big white wedding day. I was quite the opposite to say the least. I would have been fine never getting married. I was always worried about having to make sacrifices and in constant fear that even just having a significant other would just bring you down from your dreams and life goals. That is until I had Roman and I realized how important and amazing it is to feel like a family. But I never really vocalized this change in mentality to Sal or to anyone. So even after seven years together and a beautiful baby boy; Sal was petrified and I was completely surprised, stunned even by his proposal. But as he was proposing I realized all my fears and negative thoughts just flew out out of my mind and into the clouds. I realized I have been with him for SEVEN years, and never did he stop me from what I wanted to do, in fact if anything he pushed me towards all my goals. Even now being young with a child, he still does his best to help me fulfill all my hopes and dreams. Just this whole trip to Italy, was a way for him to show me that we can still see the world, just like I've always dreamt of doing.
With being stunned and all that thinking going on, I can't even remember everything he said when he proposed to me. All I know is when he got on his knee on the top of those steps next to that beautiful church on hill and asked me to marry him; I blurted out YES! and began crying. I then realized how much he really knew me to make such a perfect proposal, not for anyone but for me. Not only have we been boyfriend and girlfriend for seven years, since the age of 18, and with all the drama that can come with that most of all we have been inseparable best friends and now are parents. Next is just becoming husband and wife and celebrating our love with everyone else we love.
I'm getting married!
P.S. Did I mention how he got me a conflict free diamond ring? Damn he knows me real good.xoxo
*these photos were taken in Tropea, Italy. More pictures from our trip coming soon. Promise.

IT WAS THE 4TH OF JULY
Hope everyone had a great time!
We ended up doing a mini BBQ with just Roman, myself, and my parents over at their house. Sal worked all day and the sister was out of town. I watched the Twilight Zone marathon, it's become my own little tradition (anyone else do that?). My mom made her own version of a mango margarita on a whim for yours truly. It came out yum! Played with Roman outside with the sprinklers and his baby pool. My dad seems to be the only one who can keep up with this tot's energy nowadays. So they spent some quality time while my mother and I gossiped and eventually I retired to my ex-bedroom (now Roman's play room) for a little needed nap. Roman fell asleep on the car ride home. Then I heard the fireworks go off. I never miss fireworks. This year was the first time not being able to really see them. Last year our neighbors went crazy on the streets. I felt that I had to see something, so I made myself some mango green tea and headed to the backyard and watched about three of them go up in the air. Just making sure to keep up with the tradition. This year was relaxed and simple. Hopefully next year we can get the whole gang together!
